Fellsmere is the rural corner of the county — nearly 58 square miles of citrus groves, farmland and spread-out properties north-west of Sebastian. Pools out here are fewer and further apart, so we service them on a fixed route day to keep the price the same as it is in town.
Rural pools have their own pattern: more airborne dust and organic debris, more wind, often well water for top-ups, and equipment that has to work harder because the pool is usually open to the sky.
Wind off open ground and groves puts a fine dust load on the water that a skimmer never sees. It ends up in the filter, and filters here need cleaning more often than the ones we look after in town.
Many properties out here fill from a well. Iron and manganese in that water stain plaster as soon as they meet chlorine. Treated properly at fill time it is a non-issue; ignored, it becomes a resurfacing conversation.
Longer plumbing runs and older pumps mean lower turnover than the pool needs. We check the actual flow and run time rather than assuming the timer setting is doing its job.

It changes the fill-water handling. We test for metals, use a pre-filter and a sequestrant when the pool is filled or topped up heavily, and watch for staining. Everything else is the same weekly routine.
